A 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed by her neighbour on Monday in the Gaighata police station area of North 24 Parganas. The incident took place when the minor was working alone at a poultry farm near her house. The accused reportedly tried to forcibly take her inside the premises with wrongful intent.
The girl resisted the assault and struck the man on the head with a pair of scissors before escaping. The girl's family stated that her parents died of illness five years ago, and she currently lives with her uncle. After returning home, the girl informed her family about the incident. Her relatives alleged that this was not the first time the neighbour had harassed the girl or made inappropriate proposals.
The family filed a complaint at Gaighata police station later that night, demanding legal action against the accused. Based on the complaint, police arrested the accused the same night. Authorities have confirmed that the minor underwent a medical examination. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
